World of Difference

Thanks to Vodafone World of Difference Jean was the first employee working for for the charity Cerebral Palsy Africa(CPA). She ran courses in Ghana, Zambia and Kenya during the year (2008). Now she is busy working on training in the UK so Volunteers with CPA can prepare to assist with teaching and supporting workshops in Africa to make useful equipment for children with cerebral palsy. GHANA - Jan and February 2009

The training was held in New Horizon Special School in Accra, Ghana

14 people came from different parts of Ghana

The great news is that work has continued at the New Horizon Special School and some of the older student who have cerebral palsy themselves are also helping to make equipment.

We have heard more wonderful news. A workshop has opened in Sunyani Regional Hospital where two of the participants are making equipment see the Fotoboek on http://mitchellinghana.waarbenjij.nu/index.php?page=pictures&intTravelId=177281

ZAMBIA June 2009

Two groups working with disabled people went to help set up workshops making affordable equipment. The Community-based rehab' workers came for a small joint workshop and then the groups had some training and support for a week each to help them get them set-up in making affordable chairs and standing frames. Some income-generation items slipped in as well.

Peter, who had helped before, came as Assistant and there were two other valiant volunteers who raised their funds to come and were a great help

Joy, the artistic one

and Andrew, the carpenter who has done a sponsored walk to raise funds

The aim is to continue to help with training in other African countries to promote the work in producing the necessary equipment so children with cerebral palsy can develop their potential.
